The Excellence of Sayyiduna Abu-Bakr al-Siddiq and Sayyiduna Umar al-Farúq

Matla¢h al-Qamarayn – the dignified status of the Shaykhayn, Sayyiduna Abu-Bakr as-Siddĩq g and Sayyiduna ¢Umar al-Fãrũq g was written by the prodigious Mujaddid Ala-Ḥaḍrat Imãm Aḥmad Rĩḍã al-Qãdirĩ q in 1297 Hijri and named according to the year of authoring it (Ismut-Tãrikh). The erudite Imãm Aḥmad Riḍã g was only 25 years old when he authored this masterpiece.

Initially, he q had written a detailed book on the excellence of the Shaykhayn l in 90 chapters and named it ‘Muntaha al-Tafsĩl lĩ Mab’hath al-Tafdĩl’. If one chapter was averaged at 16 pages, then this book would had been at least 1440 pages A4 size, and after editing, it would had spread to approximately 3000 A4 pages. Unfortunately, this valuable handwritten manuscript was misplaced, and thus an important part of Academic History was buried. Great effort was put into locating this treasure, but unfortunately to no avail.

Considering the book being too lengthy and laborious for the reader, it was condensed and simplified into one volume with approximately 290 pages. This scholastic book answers to, and prudently refutes all the incorrect beliefs and arguments of the misled Tafḍĩlĩyah and Sanfaḍiyah cults who claim superiority to Sayyiduna Moula ¢Alĩ al-Murtuḍah g over the Shaykhayn l.

Imãm Aḥmad Riḍã q had mentioned this book about eight times in his renowned Fatãwa Raḍawiyah. It consists 69 Verses of the Holy Qur’ãn; 235 Aḥãdith and numerous views of various senior Imãms of Deen that establishes the excellence of the Shaykhayn l. Imãm Aḥmad Riḍã q proves without doubt that there is an established unshakable consensus of the Ummah on the excellence of the Shaykhayn. The noble Imãm discusses the various qualities and disposition of the Saḥãbah l especially the Khulafa e Rashidĩn l.

He also verifies with firm proofs that no Saḥãbĩ will be taken close to the Fire of Hell, and they will all be admitted to Paradise. This book is a must for the serious scholars who will be enlightened by the method of inference and investigation in matters of religion of this great Imãm and Mujaddid g. This book consists one preamble; three chapters, ten reviews, three sub-divisions and one conclusion. Each chapter has three sections of which parts are missing in the handwritten manuscript.
