Secrets of WorshipA Complete Guide to the Inner Dimensions of Islamic Worship
Discover the Spiritual Heart of the Five Pillars of Islam
This classic handbook unveils the profound secrets of worship pertaining to the Five Pillars of Islam. Written by a distinguished Ṣūfī Master and erudite scholar, this timeless work elegantly explains all forms of worship with their hidden spiritual realities in a classical manner that will captivate and transform the reader.
A Unique Approach: Sharīʿah and Ṭarīqah United
The author masterfully presents worship from two essential dimensions. First, the Sharīʿah (Sacred Law) provides the correct legal rulings and external forms of worship—the theory and framework that every Muslim must know. Second, the Ṭarīqah (Mystical Path) reveals the methodology, secrets, and spiritual realities—the practical execution and inner dimensions that bring worship to life. This dual approach ensures that readers understand not only what to do, but how to perform worship with spiritual presence, humility, and Divine consciousness.
Why This Book is Essential:
The Mashāʾikh (spiritual masters) teach that "he who first becomes a Ṣūfī and then an ʿĀlim is destroyed, but he who first becomes an ʿĀlim and then a Ṣūfī is indeed successful and reaches his ultimate goal." This book bridges both worlds, providing the correct knowledge essential for valid worship, as no worship benefits unless performed correctly according to sacred law. It emphasizes the paramount importance of spiritual culture in Islam, offering methods to experience euphoric pleasure in Divine service. The laws and guidance within strengthen one's faith and provide complete guidance from external compliance to internal realization.
Special Features: Etiquettes for Visiting Madinah al-Munawwarah
The book includes invaluable detailed guidance on the spiritual preparation required before embarking on the journey with sincere intention. It provides supplications to recite upon arrival when entering the blessed city, and explains proper conduct when approaching the Masjid an-Nabawī al-Sharīf. Readers learn the etiquette required in the Sacred Rawḍah and the blessed presence of the Prophet ﷺ.
Physical preparations are carefully outlined, including performing wuḍū, using miswāk, wearing clean preferably white clothing, and applying alcohol-free fragrances. The mental and spiritual state of the visitor is addressed, emphasizing walking with utmost humility, banishing unfavorable thoughts, and maintaining constant remembrance of the Prophet ﷺ. The author beautifully explains the reality of Divine welcome, describing how angels station themselves to greet those journeying to visit the Beloved Prophet ﷺ.
The author writes with profound spiritual insight: "When one sets out on a journey to Madinah al-Munawwarah with the intention of visiting the Beloved Prophet ﷺ, then Almighty Allāh ﷻ stations a legion of Angels to welcome that individual. They welcome him with gifts of mercy and respectfully shade him with their wings expressing words of praise, full of admiration at his good fortune."
